Mood Swings (PMS)

What? Mood swings are a common symptom of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). You may experience sudden, unpredictable changes in mood - happy to sad to irritated.

Why? The drop in estrogen during the later part of the cycle lowers serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood. Poor sleep, fatigue, and stress can make mood swings worse.

Am I alone? Definitely not. Around 3 in 4 women experience PMS at some point in their life.

Mood swings can be anywhere from mild and manageable to severe.
