5. 2nd Opinion?
Updated on Jan 29, 2026
When Should You Get a Second Opinion for Period Migraines?
The primary reason someone looks for a second opinion is when the diagnosis is not clear, treatment options seem complicated to the patient, greater than normal risk is involved, or if the patient is not satisfied with the doctor’s communication.
Here are a few reasons why you would need to have a second opinion regarding your migraines
- When the doctor doesn't take your concerns seriously.
- Ignores the signs and symptoms of period migraine as normal for periods.
- If you feel your care is improper or symptoms are not being addressed properly.
- Not seeing an improvement after 3-4 cycles of treatment.
- If pharmacological treatment options like Combined Oral Contraceptives are recommended by the doctor.
